I think hot dogs just make people happy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2019 the Morell family &#8211; Jane, her husband, and their two adult sons, found themselves with an empty kitchen. It wasn\u2019t hard to decide what they\u2019d use it for. One afternoon, a few weeks after they started planning, the Morells piled into a car to go do \u201chot dog research.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was fun and filling. We went to like 5 different places,\u201d Jane Morrell said. She recalled the trip fondly, laughing. \u201cI was driving and every other person in the car was asleep on the way home. It was great.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the research was completed the family moved onto phase 2 &#8211; taste testing. Every member of the family came up with their own hot dog ideas &#8211; 4 different hot dogs on 4\u00a0 different buns &#8211;\u00a0 and the family went to work once again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2-300x105.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2-300x105.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2-1024x358.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2-768x269.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2-1536x538.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/HighwayHotDogs2.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next family endeavor was planning what the restaurant would actually look like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe all got together and redecorated the restaurant as a 50s style interior,\u201d Morell said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-63x63.jpg 63w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o-84x84.jpg 84w, https:\/\/www.hunterdoneats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/95216075_2668665430035473_883308871085457408_o.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their one year anniversary was May 1, 2020 &#8211; right in the center of the coronavirus global pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe were really just hitting our groove,\u201d Jane said.\u00a0 \u201cAs to be expected, business is down.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her son\u2019s hours at the restaurant were cut, but Jane continued to work through it. She\u2019s excited for what lies ahead as restrictions are slowly lifted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re just a really good old fashioned hot dog joint. It\u2019s a fun thing for the whole family to do. Sunday fundays &#8211; kids would win prizes when they spun a wheel, so hopefully we\u2019ll be able to bring that back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As one might expect, the restaurant is almost entirely hot dogs.
